An extension of regular cruise control, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) uses a radar sensor to automatically brake and accelerate (within a set range) to keep a pre-selected distance from other cars on the road. ACC is able to react to moving traffic, speeding up or slowing down (to a pre-selected speed) should a vehicle pull into or depart from your lane.
Using the same radar sensor, Front Assist observes the distance from the car in front, and should a rear collision seem likely, the system kicks in to help prevent any collision or reduce its intensity.
The City EB function can also significantly reduce the severity of collisions by providing an acoustic and visual warning to the driver, as well as automatic braking and/or boosting of braking pressure if required.

Always one step ahead, the intelligent 6 or 7-speed DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) transmission has two gear sets and two clutches. One gear set and clutch is engaged while driving the vehicle, while the second clutch (having already pre-selected the next gear) waits for power to be transferred. Meaning your next gear is never more than 3-4/100ths of a second away. This makes a smoother ride with almost unnoticeable gear changes, and better economy for your pocket as the car selects the optimal gear for power and efficiency. All-in-all, a winning combination.
